These works were created over many years, with Lucie primarily focusing on 2D art since 2014.

In Winter 2022 Lucie gave herself the rule to stitch one circle per evening and to ‘leave it behind’ after the day had passed. The time limit could affect the outcome, which she’d have to accept. The size and the details of each circle indicate the available time she had.
After Winter, Lucie relived these evenings when she joined the circles together with string, and … she left all of them unchanged.

"Puzzled" encapsulates Lucie’s repetitive, muddled efforts to find inner calm. Layers of textiles and paper, meticulously secured through hand stitching, reveal the observer's perception of the fragile balance between delicacy, determination, and strength.

In 2021, Lucie and her husband found themselves stranded in the Netherlands, unable to return to their home in Australia. During those eight months, Lucie channeled her creativity to maintain a positive outlook. She collected seemingly insignificant items and stitched them onto a piece of cloth, transforming it into a personal diary and a source of inspiration, with each item requiring a unique method of attachment.

Residing in drought-stricken Canberra offers a poignant perspective on the challenges that the natural environment faces in attempting to flourish under such harsh conditions. It is a vivid illustration of the resilience and perseverance of the ecosystem, showcasing hope and positivity.

Inspired by origami, this piece seamlessly blends textile and paper, showcasing their inherent qualities of flexibility and rigidity. It was created for the annual members exhibition at Craft ACT in Canberra.
